Abu Muneer Ismail Davids – National Manager
Abu Muneer has been involved in Da’wah work over several decades holding a trusted position within the various communities he has worked with. Currently he is very active within the Australian community, working with various Muslim organisations on projects aimed at providing better outcomes for Muslims in Australia.
He has authored “Getting the Best out of Hajj”, which is considered by many as the best literary piece concisely encompassing the rites and rituals of Hajj. Aside from his Hajj lectures he also teaches Muslim reverts. Abu Muneer has long been providing the means and knowledge in 4 of the 5 pillars of Islam and adding Zakat to these, by the Mercy of Allah, it now gives him the ability to provide a service to the Australian Muslim community which encompasses all the 5 pillars of Islam.
Abu Muneer has 20 years of managerial and financial experience. Having worked as a senior manager in various corporate organisations with expertise in the areas of Strategy, Vision, Budgeting, Operations, Quality standards, Project Management, Logistics, Leadership, Mentoring and Coaching, coupled with his trusted position within the community, places Abu Muneer in an ideal position to lead the National Zakat Foundation in Australia.
Dedicated Team Members
NZF Australia is currently active on all states, except NT and Tasmania. The current management team is made up of Distribution, Finance and Marketing. In addition there are over 25 dedicated volunteers (investors in their Hereafter), including state team leaders, case workers, call handling, logistics, marketing and administration. The team is passionate and committed.
Shaykh Tawfique Chowdhury
Shaykh Tawfique Chowdhury is the Founder, Chairman and CEO of Mercy Mission which he established in 2005. Shaykh Tawfique excelled in his Islamic studies both classically from the scholars of Madinah as well as graduating from the college of Shari’ah from the Islamic University of Madinah. He is also an experienced business professional, having been CEO of a multinational IT company and also a practising medical doctor in Australia. He is also a corporate trainer and business coach to many successful people worldwide.
Being a prolific speaker, Dr Tawfique has travelled internationally sharing his knowledge in many countries worldwide. He is well known for specialising in Islamic legal topics, particularly in Islamic finance, personal law and Islamic Medical Ethics and his opinions in these matters are eagerly sought. He is also a well-known media contributor on various TV Channels worldwide.
Shaykh Sajid Umar
Shaykh Sajid was born in Leicester, UK. He attended primary, secondary and college in Harare (Zimbabwe), where he studied IT and obtained a first class degree. Having memorised the Qur’an at the age of eighteen he turned his attention towards Islamic studies. He travelled to Riyadh where he enrolled at Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University, gaining a University Diploma in Arabic language and Islamic Sciences. He continued his studies at al-Imaam University, graduating with a Bachelors degree in Shari’ah. He is currently completing his Masters, specialising in Comparative Islamic Law in the Higher Institute for Judiciary Studies at al-Imam University.
He has spends many semester breaks teaching various Islamic programs for both youth and adults in Saudi Arabia, UK, South Africa, Malawi and Zimbabwe. These classes ranged from lectures in mosques, on radio, TV and online. He has also spent time working on syllabus and curricula for use in Islamic schools based in the West. He is an Imam for the largest Masjid in Zimbabwe. His hobbies include building computers to customer specs, book collecting and reading. Sajid is married, has a brown belt in karate, is a keen golfer, swimmer, footballer and cricketer. He has completed over 15 articles and 5 dissertations related to Islamic Sciences.
He is an instructor for the AlKauthar Institute and Director of Islamic Development for Mercy Mission World.
Shaykh Bilal Ismail
Shaykh Bilal Ismail was born in Durban, South Africa. He grew up in the town of Tongaat in the greater Durban area. He is one of three siblings and comes from a religious family. He memorised the Quran while studying at school and went on to complete high school in 1998. He studied for a diploma in Computer Science in 1999, as well as qualifying as a Microsoft certified systems engineer. He was accepted into the Islamic University of Madinah in 2001 where he completed his Diploma in Arabic, followed by a BA in Islamic Law from the faculty of Shari’ah.
Shaykh Bilal is one of the most active and prolific instructors for the AlKauthar institute and is also the academic head of the Students Guild.
Shaykh Fraz Farhat
Shaykh Fraz Farhat was born in Pakistan, but grew up in the UK where he currently resides. He is married with three children.
Shaykh Fraz graduated in Engineering from Leeds University before going on to study at the University of Madinah. After completing his Arabic studies he graduated in Sharīʿah in 2000.
After returning to the UK, Shaykh Fraz now teaches Physics at a secondary school in London. He also conducts a number of weekly classes on Sīrah, Tafsīr, Fiqh, Uṣūl al-Fiqh and Ḥadīth in his local area of South London. In addition to this busy schedule, Shaykh Fraz also appears on Islam Channel and Ramadan TV, as well as being a tutor at a number of other institutes dedicated to teaching Islamic knowledge, including the AlKauthar Institute. In his spare time he likes to play badminton and squash.
